Ingredients
1 lb Hot Italian Sausage
1 Yellow Onion
16 oz Ziti Pasta Noodles
28 oz San Marzano Tomatoes
4 Garlic Cloves
5 Large Fresh Basil Leaves
6 oz Shredded Parmesan Cheese
Chicken Broth
Handful of Parsley
Salt
Tomato Paste
Water
Instructions
Mince the 4 cloves of garlic. Sauté them in olive oil over medium heat in a sizable saucepan until golden about 45 seconds
Squeeze about a tablespoon of tomato paste on to the garlic and mix
Pour contents of San Marzano tomatoes can into pan. Put a little bit of warm water from the sink in the can and drop into pan as well
Increase heat to high and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce to low and let simmer for 3-4 hours
Towards the end of the sauce reduction, set a pot of water to boil. Once boiling, mix in the ziti and cook to al dente
In a separate saucepan, mix in the yellow onion, cut into half moon slices. Sauté until translucent, a few minutes
Mix the sausage into the pan with the Ziti and cook until browned all around
Once browned, mix the sausage/onion mixture into the pan with the sauce. Put a touch of chicken broth to thin out the sauce
Mix the sauce around until the sausage and onion are well coated
Cut up the basil leaves into strips, then turn off the heat of the sauce and mix in
Drain the pasta and put into a large mixing bowl. Then add in the sauce
Mix together thoroughly with all of the Parmesan cheese in the bowl
